thank god I’m not the only one who thinks this way.now that I Carnot get down to the games,I rely on listening on my laptop,and the commentary is usualy good.i must say ,Kirk Dixon makes me laugh with some of his comments,for instance ,he got one right in the mush or he’s got his big paw wrapped round the ball.

If you are on a laptop have you tried to listen via hull fc live? Its biased but no one should be subjected to Gollum Lloyd, he is atrocious. Alternatively when I used to live away from Hull I would try to find the away commentary on BBC Merseyside. BBC Leeds etc, whenever he was on.

Richard Stead and Kirk Dixon are good though.

He’s very much Marmite and I hate the stuff. I remember when Burns was the chief editor, or whatever, at Humberside and he couldn’t stand the man. What began as banter became condescension, he would bollock Gwillam for breathing. Silly sod would have his mike to close to his nose and you could hear it like a steam train. Then there was the time he was commentator on a Catalan’s home game, there was a minutes silence but the daft bugger talked all the way through and he couldn’t understand why everyone was glaring at him until someone told him. Gwillam had a break down and became poorly, that’s why he disappeared for a time and Burns lost the chief oppo’s position and he got the day job.

That explains a lot!!
