What did you expect? 5,600 on a freezing cold thursday night with no away fans to watch a team of under 20s plus 4 first teamers is a great attendance.

I would have expected at least 8k and agree the opposition fans won't have contributed much. They never do.

If people had know what the team was before they bought their tickets it would have been even lower imo.

Yea, Wigan's a well supported team. It doesn't mean we're all plonkers with money to burn. It was £15 a head, when you got more than one of you going it soon mounts up. A family of 4 would've cost £40, and let's not forget, most people haven't been paid since before Christmas, and have had to pay for Christmas in the meantime.

Some teams in superleague would be made up with that crowd for a league game against a club that brought 3000 fans with them let alone in a game on a feezing Thursday night with a team made up of 4 first teamers playing for 15 minutes, some u20's players and some u18's players (from last year).

I'll leave it at that.

To be fair, I can remember going to the Shaun Edwards testimonial match in the golden days when crowds would turn up to Central Park watch a bulb on a floodlight being changed and I'm pretty sure that was a barely 7000 gate with full strength team
