I agree Sal, stealing all our talent, why Swinton and the RFL couldn't organise some sort of central contract to keep him i'll never know. Sad loss to the game, Ashton will be worried now he has some proper competition.

Strange one this, he played for Swinton yesterday. I think his best bet at this stage is to play RU Sevens. If Nicky Royle can do it, Kev Penny certainly can.

Further to my last, apparently KP trained with Swinton tonight. I suspect that he's signed to play RU from October when his Swinton commitments are finished.

Yes they are. I believe they pay something like £150 per match (that's what one of my team mates at Lymm last season was being paid, although this might have changed).

They also act as a feeder club for Sale Sharks, so maybe he's eyeing a place there, or just giving up on rugby league and going to find another job instead...
