Anybody know what the penalty count was?

They mentioned something about it at the end of the game.

I think it was pretty even over all, but the Bulls had more in the first half and Cru had more in the 2nd.

TBH, I wouldn't blame the ref for tonight's performance. Both teams looked shaky.

I think they said 5 -2 to Bulls in the first half and 8 - 3 to Cru in the second.

The VR was worse, the two decisions for Crusaders tries at the end were laughable. Still at least I get to see a Benefit of the Doubt try finally.

So that's 8-10. Not a huge number of penalties, tbh could have been more if Mr Silverwood clamped down more. But the game was disjointed enough without a whistle happy ref.

The decisions that stick out without seeing the replay is the Gareth Raynor offload towards the end of the 1st half that clearly went backwards before bouncing forward and the video ref 'held up' decision in the 2nd.

He was in a great position to judge whether the ball was grounded, the video ref had no chance of seeing it. I just hope the referees are consistent that if a player is pushed over the line and bodies prevent a clear grounding then it is a try. I am pretty damn sure we'll see plenty similar 'tries' chalked off without the vid ref in attendance.

The game didn't really go on long enough without an error for the ref have to give any penalties!

I thought Silverwood had a decent game.

Some of the decisions were questionable but the game levelled itself out in the end. He didn't really miss much (apart from Thomas knocking on from the kick off).

That being said the BOTD call was very fishy though.

I didn't think he was any worse than he usually is

But then I start from very low expectations where Silverwood is concerned

Silverwood's performance matched the overall standard of play.

The most ridiculous decision was "no holding down" at the end of our break, a copybook sinbin foul, and impossible to miss

That was up there, especially because Martin then proceeded to get in the way of the dummy half as well.
