To some, I guess it's unthinkable that Purdo would lose his captaincy (particularly as it's his test year).

I'm not so sure. We have a new coach with new ideas and he might just feel that with Purdo's injury record, now might be a good time to hand over the reins to someone else.

I'm happy with a fit Purdo, but I'd also be happy with Chad

PS. Someone on another thread mentioned Saints injury record. We should be so lucky. Poor Purdo has missed 67 games in the last 7 years (or put another way, 2.5 seasons). Do hope he gets some luck this year.

posted on twitter by Code13, Rob will be fit to play in the opening game in Cardiff and was introduced as captain at the press conference this afternoon.

Rob will be captain this year and confirmed he'll play in the opening fixture. He should play in the 20's this weekend.

We'll have a full interview with rob and a number of other players coming soon on the site. Squad and coaching staff are very positive about the season ahead, supporters need to get behind the team too.

As Powell pointed out, as you will read in interviews over the next few days, we're in a much better position this year with the squad than in pevious years. Both in terms injuries and cover for positions.

There's a real buzz around the Stoop at the moment what with Powell as head coach and Gus Mackey as CEO. The players are really enjoying training and it's been difficult to keep them away from the training pitch.

There seems to be a great mix of experience and youth add to that the names of Pyrce and Calderwood and Quins fans could be in for an exciting season.

One thing that is never in doubt is that the supporters that we have will always be behind the team. I suspect that this will be a long and hard season for both the team and us, but as we used to sing at Griffin Park...."London 'til I die".......

possibly true, but feel a damn sight better about this season than last one, as at least you can get the feeling the "old" spirit of the club appears to be coming back, which even if it ends in glorious failures, leads you to believe at least the players will not only try their nuts off, but be seen to be doing so and happy doing it, not a feeling I got for them under Macca D.
