This Sunday sees a much welcome return to North Wales. And while it isn't Kimmel Bay or Prestatyn, I'm quite looking forward to it nonetheless.

Anyhow, as we all know, the boyos from the Valleys have contributed some significant players in our history, through birth or heritage. Some of those amongst us will have been lucky enough to have seen the likes of Andy Gregory, Kevin Ellis, Mike Nicholas, Alan Bateman, Jiffy, John Bevan, et al, whilst some will only know of Lee Briers (and Gary Hulse!) and have a fleeting memory of calling Iestyn Harris nasty names when he came to the HJ/Wilderspool.
And there may even be some who remember seeing Dai Davies in the flesh!

Lee Briers, single handedly ripped the Aussies to bits in the world cup that time, great Warrington servant, love him or hate him, the guys a legend.

Davies.. he was the best

massive sidestep.. loads of pace and strong with it.... and he also had an amazing kicking game on him.... distance wise for touch he kicked long... and his kicking for goal was also exceptional.. he also had great hands and could put someone through a gap.... Imagine Davies in this current wire team at fullback !

my grandad is from widnes and he used to take me to see widnes reserves when i stayed at his on a fri night... he also took me see his debut game in RL....dougie laughton had just signed davies from union.. i remember he ran out on his debut against salford and he looked tiny, almost like a little boy compared to the other players in the first team... anyway he played 20 mins and martin offiah scored 6 tries and they won 59-8... laughton then put him in the reserves until he put on about 2 stone.. my grandad took me all those games... i loved watching him play... loads of brilliant displays.
