| Potential big hitter financial backers (I'm aware of two) are put off (to say the least) from backing one of our non-Super League clubs as, primarily, there is no automatic promotion/relegation, and, because of the Salary Cap nonsense, they can't put together a team that would be pretty sure of gaining promotion to Super League anyway.
Their next idea is to consider entering a team in another competition. The French domestic league, unfortunately, doesn't meet the required criteria and isn't a runner.
What about the NRL? The pros would be the profile, big home crowds and a potential TV deal independent of Sky eg BT Vision.
The implications would probably be a need for a group of players Australia based, another group UK based, and a further group (probably younger, single players) who would fly backwards and forwards between Aus and UK after each match.
Things up for negotiation would be whether:
a) the NRL would allow all the 'away' matches to be played in the first half of the season and all the 'home' matches in the second half of the season or
b) if a UK based NRL club could play ALL its matches (except play-off matches) in the UK if it contributed largely to the NRL clubs' travel & accomodation costs.

| Do we keep stats for the most wrong things, bizarre opinions and stupid ideas in the same post? The OP has set a benchmark.

As ludicrous as the OP sounds, the NFL are seriously ready to start up a team in London!!!

Strange things are possible in these modern times!

| the NFL can afford it....plus they'll get 70-80k for every home game at wembley.....thats why they are serious about it...
as for a english team in the NRL........lol nah silly idea....
but.......with the number of englishmen in the NRL growing by the year at the very least i reckon we should have a "team england camp" set up down under that would get together during the season.... with a "team england" liaison officer.....someone like a mal reilly

you do know the NRL has both of these things don't you? Steve Mascord was suggesting Perth is considering putting a team in SL, which is equally as ludicrous!

The east coast of the US is a five hour flight. Additionally, the matches are played at a time that usually fits both time zones - 12:00/15:25 there equating to 18:00 and 21:25 (a little late) here.
However, I doubt a London team will happen. Not whilst there are locations such as Los Angeles, Mexico City, and the major Canadian cities also available for franchises.
